ABOUT

My New Favourite (MNF) was started in 2008 to rev-up the entertainment options in Franklin, South Auckland. The company has spread its wings since and has hosted events around the North Island for:

  • Tiki Taane
  • Greg Johnson
  • Rhys Darby
  • Don McGlashan
  • Dane Rumble & Ivy Lies
  • Elemeno P
  • 1814
  • Luger Boa, I Am Giant & Black River Drive
  • Herbs
  • Goldenhorse & Nathan King
  • Gary McCormick & Tim Shadbolt

MNF aims to deliver occasions that connect performers and audiences. Sometimes a theatre provides the best platform for that and acts like Don McGlashan and Greg Johnson have delivered charming shows, including on-stage interviews, in such settings.

Caley Wilson, who runs MNF, went to school in Patumahoe and Pukekohe. He studied marketing and physical education at Otago University, and then worked in international thoroughbred marketing roles in Auckland and London. While in London he put on a show for Dave Dobbyn - and decided that was good fun. Horses took a bit of a back seat after that. Caley has also worked on some of the UK's biggest sports events like Nike's RunLondon, Sports Relief and the London Youth Games.

The Franklin district had an estimated population of 61,000 in 2009.  That was up from 48,000 in the 1996 census. The largest town in the region is Pukekohe (roughly 19,000), with Waiuku (5,500) and Tuakau (3,000) next in size. Depending on the mood of the southern motorway, Pukekohe can be as little as a 35min trip from central Auckland.
